Let's try this again!A

Three weeks ago I typed up a comprehensive report for this site. When I went to publish it, anything but that happened. So, a new computer later, let's try this again, albeit a bit more brief this time.

For a basic report, most everything is fishing well right now. Please be aware that some "off-pavement" fisheries may be inaccessible right now as some roads are closed due to earlier thawing and protection from traffic, especially as shed hunters invade the area.

Chickahominy: This is getting the most attention, with a number of vehicles noted there the past few trips I've made on HWY 20. It has fished rather well since ice-off, with the typical flies doing the trick. Springtime means leeches, scuds, beetles and chironomids. Start off with a dark leech either stripped for under an indicator if you're into watching bobbers. Watch for fish in the shallows, as I noted numerous dorsal fins in inches deep shoreline water late last month. Fish are fat and healthy, as expected. With the heavy snowfall and runoff a year ago, there is plenty of water there for at least another year in spite of this past dry winter.

Krumbo: No recent report, but should fish as well is it normally does in the spring.

Yellowjacket/Delintment: No snow blocking access. Recall that the area around Yellowjacket suffered a severe fire a couple of years ago, so don't expect a green campground or surroundings. Plenty of carry over trout in these two forest reservoirs.

Beulah Reservoir:  Currently at 66% full and rising, however, don't expect that to continue for long as there's not a lot of snow in the hills to feed this system, and water will soon be released for downstream irrigation. No recent fishing report.

BLM "Ponds": Note that some will be inaccessible due to road closures. All should fish fairly well.

Mann Lake:  The lake was planted with Lahontans this past fall. Anticipate some "fair sized" fish this fall, and if water passes through the ranch to maintain decent levels at Mann, expect some good fishing in 2027.

Blitzen: No extreme runoff, but keep an eye on the USGS website for current water conditions. Slow to fair fishing.

Malheur: Anticipate some release from reservoirs for downstream ag fields soon due to the dry winter.
